I grew up in Rhode Island and moved to Virginia in 1990. I’m mostly self-taught, drawing influences from artists such as Sargent and Caravaggio. I am grateful to have studied with Margaret Meade in Centreville, VA and with Mark Carder in Austin, TX.
I prefer to paint with oil on linen with a limited palette that unifies the colors. I paint outdoors (en plein air) or in my studio in Charlottesville, VA. I am currently focused on subjects that emerge from darkness, with rich, subtle darks and vibrant, realistic light.
Contact me if you are interested in purchasing one of my paintings or if you are looking to connect with a Virginia plein air painter.
